Credence leans back as the other is surprised, but it's something he's learned to get over. Surprise is not anger, and is not a bad thing. This is Sonny. Sonny is not going to hurt him, Credence is sure of it. He's rather proud of himself--he doesn't even flinch. It's probably because Sonny hasn't raised his voice.
