Fountain; Very Early Morning

Wanda pushed her way from the fountain, a noticeable frown tugging at her lips as she moved. She was soaked, it was freezing and she had no idea how she got here. Moving quickly, Wanda pulled the backpack from her shoulders and rummaged through its contents. She didn't know what she was expecting to find but she was grateful to see a set of dry clothes stashed inside. After making sure that there wasn't anyone watching, Wanda began to strip off the wet layers and pull on what she had found.

Her movements were quick as she pulled the pale gray scrubs over her head. Any sound or inclination of another person would cause her focus to shift. She'd quickly turn towards her new company, red mist snapping an icicle from nearby shooting it towards the stranger.

Wanda would stop her attack just before striking. She wanted answers.

Around; Mid-Day

Wanda took the time to explore the village; learning the few threads of information that were available as well as who else was around. Her powers felt different, distant, and her tests to use them confirmed that a large fraction of her strength had been taken from her. It was frustrating and it pulled at the strands of tension that gathered beneath her breastbone.

She didn't like feeling like a rat in a cage.

She meandered through the village and around it's outskirts, her eyes inspecting for details that might offer a clue that others have missed. Wanda was familiar with cold weather and snow; neither deterred her from having a look around however she didn't wander very far.

Near the Inn; Night Sky

As the afternoon drifted away from Wanda she began to noticed the intensity of the lights stretching across the sky. She's seen auroras in the past. They were streaks of light that curled like brilliant ocean waves against the dark contrast of night. She had hoped to see the stars but the auroras were shining like a second sun, efficiently hiding anything else from sight.

"Hmm?" Her tone was soft, her chin tilted up to stare at the sky. "How is it that people sleep."

Wanda knew she should sleep but her thoughts were heavy and distracting. The auroras gave her something to focus on and for the moment she wanted that distraction.

"Originally, yes, though I'd not gone home in quite a while," Peggy admits, seeing as her work with the SSR had kept her from spending too much time in London, much to her dismay (and relief, at times, for she didn't need to hear her mother's disappointment as to why she wasn't married). "I was in New York, but recently, a case had brought me to Los Angeles," she explained. "Recent events before I arrived here had convinced me to stay there," she says.

Apparently, the universe did not see fit to agree and instead, pulled her here, without purpose or many people or something for her to do. she's still waiting for the other shoe to drop, but she konws that it will.

"The war was over and my job was in New York," she replies, matter-of-factly. Peggy hadn't moved anywhere for her own sake in nearly a decade. There was always something to do, always another place to be. Staying in Los Angeles had been her small form of revolt, staying not just for the case, but for the burgeoning feelings she'd had for both Jason and Daniel, which had settled, by the end.

"After I went into the Army, I went where they wanted. Where I was needed." Then, she'd stopped being needed, at which point she'd had to start punching her way through life, proving that she was worth more.

"After the war, it depends on whom you ask," Peggy says, the bitterness acrid in her tone, having been built into her words through the long enduring battle she'd fought to prove her usefulness. "At first, it was only lunch orders, but a good friend hired me to clear his name. That got me some traction on cases. I worked with the Strategic Scientific Reserve," she says. "Both during and after, but the people and the mission changed."

Her defenders left, seeking out new lives. Peggy stayed behind and had to start climbing the ladder all over again.

"It was awful at times," Peggy agrees, but she's not made of such soft insides that she had allowed herself to simply give up. After all, there had been a job to do and even if the men that worked with her didn't see her skills for what they were, she wasn't about to sit back and let them fail for it.

"From what I hear, it's better in the future, though perhaps not perfect."

Peggy isn't entirely sure what to think of the woman, but if Steve approves of her, then she will too. That's simply how the world works, in this case. "I live with Stella Gibson," she shares, to give her the knowledge of where to look. "I'd be happy to speak, anytime."
