"Sometimes what people don't say is just as telling as what they do." Alex offers quietly. "Or they decide to lie, and if you're decent at picking out lies even those can tell you something, honestly."

He'd had more than his fair share of mad men and women eager to share their plans with him, of course, but Alex supposes that's a very specific sort of niche of psychopaths and he can't exactly assume that his luck is going to hold out in that regard now as well.

But just in case... "Some people just really like bragging about their plans though. Especially if they think what they're doing is, I don't know, just, or acceptable somehow."
