At least he's used to the skepticism. New York is one giant cultural mixing pot, and as such, he's met plenty of people of different religions, and some who don't claim a religion at all. So the way she scrunches her nose isn't anything he's unused to.

"Yeah," he says, a little bit breathless, and offers a smile. "I mean, sure we're all trying to get home. But a place to worship will bring a lot of people comfort and peace. And that's important, too."
