And a fine lot it'd done them, in the end. But more were alive than dead, starved to skeletons on a little island or none born at all.
But then, the Kelly children were all proud of being native-born. Before they are Irish, before they are Catholic, they are
Australian.
It means something, Kate thinks.
"Hot? Oh," and here she laughs. "No, not hot. Warm. Australia is
much
hotter."
At least, so far.
