Kate leans forward, her own personal confession, and a flicker of something that could be attributed to a smile flickers over his face, nodding lightly.

Good. That's good, then--for some reason, Kate acting conspiratorially with him lowers his defenses, somewhat. In that simple motion, Credence feels like they're in this together instead of him just flailing about.

"I'm used to big buildings," he confesses, and there's a touch of heat to his cheeks, like he's saying something forbidden. "Nothing is sprawled out like this in New York."
