As unethical as it might be to be selective about taking on board only clients who are innocent, who need justice, it makes Matt's job a lot easier when he knows people he represents are telling the truth. He doesn't lie in court, contrary to popular belief. He saves it for the 'what were you doing last night' questions whenever he shows up with another band-aid or another ugly bruise he can't hide under his suit.
