"If we are too good, kind, and gentle, perhaps that is all what we can be to one another. I think we have a better chance of that than most." There is something to be said for opposites attracting, but Leonardo had his fling with someone like that here, not that he plans on speaking of it. And it was necessary and appreciated, to believe he was able to do that without fear. This is something else, and he cannot deny he is afraid and concerned himself, but knowing that Alistair is as gentle as he is helps.

"It is still a great deal to process. These feelings are already more than I've been allowed." He didn't really intend to speak too much about it, but he couldn't seem to stop himself now that it is out there. Leonardo has no one else to talk about it with. He is considering embarking on a romantic relationship, but he is not willing to speak to his closest friend about it. So he is adrift. "He was brave enough to take the first step, so I can only try to be as brave."

As for Ezio. He squirms slightly, the red not overcoming the deep seated anxiety on this issue. "No, I ... he is too important to me to hide from. I want to believe he will be supportive, but he was raised Catholic, and the Bible is very clear on this subject." He knows Ezio is kind and wonderful to his friends, but fear is not rational. Being rejected by him would be devastating.
