Karen hesitates a tick, debating whether to just cut bait on this one and go about her business, but then realizes her 'business' is pretty thin on the ground and she doesn't have much to do. So fine, sure; maybe this guy just isn't as used to the cold as she is and it's made him cranky. Or maybe she'll end up cutting bait after a couple of minutes anyway, but it isn't like she doesn't have the time.

"Sorry," she says as she steps under the eaves of the blacksmith's hut, "the cold doesn't bother me that much. I was just trying to be neighborly."
