Jason hadn’t exactly reached out to Billy and Nida either. Maybe he should’ve, but his default thought is that nobody needs him around, so he didn’t. Nida and Billy clearly had each other, and they probably didn’t want an awkward third wheel hanging around, or so Jason thought.

Nida’s question draws a wry half-smile from Jason. “You think my confidence needs boosting? Or my luck? I did manage to only die the once, y’know.”
