"I survived," Sabriel assures her, "And I accomplished what I set out to do." Her tone is reassuring, but her expression is of grim satisfaction, rather than any attempt at a smile. The memory was raw, but it had served as a reminder- it had cut off before she had returned to Life, but Sabriel knew what had happened afterwards, the people who'd surrounded her body.
She was Abhorsen, and Touchstone was waiting for her, along with her school friends- the ones who hadn't died, at least. She'd have to confront that when she got back to Ancelstierre... somehow. She turned her attention to Kurt.
"Well, at least one of us wasn't affected- but were those our memories, or were we being watched before we were taken?"
