WHO: Faraday
WHERE: North Village, house
WHEN: 1/20
OPEN TO: Vasquez
WARNINGS: Will updated as needed

Faraday wasn't sure what to think when he'd gotten a box that contained wood, a few small items, and instructions. He doesn't know a time of Ikea and premade kits to help a person be handy, but he certainly knows how to use his hand for such projects as the one that lay before him.

Sneaking time when the others were around, he found himself devoting a lot of time to the project. It's not a concern he's shown before to such things, but this is for Alejandro, and so he takes all the time he can to make it as perfect as he might.

He spends time sanding and then oiling the wood, cutting it carefully and then sanding out any burrs from the cuts. The stitching causes his hands to cramp, nearly going cross eyed to get them lined up exactly, trying to make them as perfectly aligned as he might. Using tiny brads and an awl, he attaches each of the leather pieces to keep the box hinged, to allow it to protect the cigarettes that will be kept within. Hours are spent carefully sanding and carving out the hollows to allow each cigarette to nestle into the pockets. Once it's all put together, Joshua carefully oils the entire piece to seal it.

Wrapping the wooden box in brown paper and twine, he left it laying on the bed in Vasquez's room while he's out, knowing he'll find it sooner than later. They're badly done, a shaky hand writing them, but there's a small J.F. printed on one corner of the front of the wrapping.

Even though it's not entirely freezing, Vasquez is always cold in this weather, which means that he's bundled up in one of the blankets, milling around the house, but not wanting to go too far from the fire. Of course, he needs to go back to the room and get something to smoke, but when he does, there's something there.

This doesn't look like the box that he finds for himself so often. It looks different, and it's got Joshua's initials on it. Taking it in hand, he doesn't want to open it just yet, because he wants to wait and see what this is for, but he's smiling warmly already just to hold it. Finding his smokes, he heads downstairs to light up, situating by the fire again and waiting for his return so he can open and see what it is that he has, now.
