Bruce can definitely be cold. It's what's protected him at some of the worst times of his life, it's what's allowed him to carry on being his city's guardian vigilante for decades, now. Whether he'd acknowledge it or not is a good question. Here, though, it's not going to serve him, so he doesn't call on it.

"I do have questions," he answers, good natured, "and I could use the company too. I'll be back."

A few minutes later he's settling in with a plate, mindfully having served himself just enough to get by.

"How long have you been here, Jess?"
