"Oh. I see. There aren't many countries with monarchies anymore, from- where we're from." He can't attest to good or bad monarchies - from what he hears they're usually worse for the 99% than the systems he's used to - but if it works where Hawke comes from then that can't be a bad thing.

"There's a lot of preparation that goes into it," he explains, adding with a soft chuckle: "My cases would fall apart if I get flustered in court. I think uh... I mean I'd rather argue than fight to the death." He wrinkles his nose. It's so against everything he stands for that he doesn't really know what to make of trials by combat.

"Does it... bother you?" he can't help but ask quietly.
