"Yeah, you were," Nida agreed, more under his breath than for Seifer's sake.
Yet even he couldn't hide the momentary shock he felt at the conflict Seifer wore at his revelation. At first he didn't even push, just kept walking down the short path to the inn. Not that he could say quiet for long. Not by any stretch. Just before the door to the inn, and the building was clearly that, Nida paused and cleared his throat. He had little intention of going in with Seifer. Doubted the guy would want it. This time of day there would probably be someone in there to point him the right way. If not, Seifer could poke around. Not like the thick codex wasn't obvious.
"So you know, Seifer... Headmaster Kramer's wife, she talked about some things after the war. And Raijin told me a few things too, in the letters we sent back and forth. I... I think Squall was right, saying you should be left alone after the war. That things were, well, I guess saying complicated would be cliche, even if it is correct."
How exactly were you supposed to say 'I think you were probably possessed or something along those lines and while you probably deserve some of the blame for what happened I don't think it's nearly as much as it seemed'?
Perhaps there really wasn't a way.
"I'm sorry for what happened to you."
There was no chance Ultimecia was any better to Seifer than she was to anyone else.
