"There is a list of names and what look like tests in the bunker. My name is on there a few times as are people I know. It looks like it's the names of those who have died here." So not afterlife but Kat wasn't going to argue with him. She wasn't dead though she did agree that this world was a new life. It was a chance to start over and have something new.

"I can show you, if you'd like but I think you should get used to the village first. It's a long walk to the bunker and we wouldn't make it back before dark." Which meant camping or hiking back at night, which was dangerous.
