It was a lesson that I had to learn in blood, and I will remember that until my death." His second death, that was. His first had only been a matter of weeks ago, so far as he knew.

But never did his hand stop moving. The water, even as it warmed to the temperature of the room, was still cooler than her skin. "I hope we can find an answer to this in time. This many losses..." Especially when some had truly begun to matter to him. But then, wasn't that his life?
