"I wouldn't mind a dog," he admits, because that kind of steady loyalty and companionship would be good and if they do end up bringing on farm animals, he thinks it would be a good help to drive away predators.

"Not horses," he says, even if there's a strange look on his face. "Something like horses, though. It's called a kirin? They're strange, but they're close enough."
