Some of that made him pause. "Kittens that... what?"

But the rest - dust that made one ghostly, moths that take memories... He shook his head just thinking about it, deciding just then: "If it is the light that helps, then we will keep you in the light. We may need to take you back to the village to make certain worse doesn't happen. There, at least, we can ensure firelight whereas here, there would only be the setting sun and the shade of trees on the return journey."

And she was a friend. He'd not lose her to this ridiculousness, bad or good sense of humour. He'd lost enough.
