"I was always with a group. There's a lot of monsters where I'm from out in the open, so going alone isn't the safest option." It isn't that it stopped her, but Rinoa's not the strongest fighter of her group by a lot. Even Selphie is excellently trained in comparison, which you wouldn't know to look at her, all tiny and bubbly. And if she could go alone, she probably wouldn't. Rinoa is the first to admit she's a little needy and prefers being around people.
