No, he generally hated water - and now, knowing the depth of this seemingly innocuous fountain, he knew he would be giving it care. "But these are not the hands I died with. The spots, the veins, the skin like an onion..." Slowly, he shook his head. "But if this is how it shall be, I have few reasons to complain."

Few. Not 'no.' There were things he had counted on for the afterlife. This is giving him none of them. He found himself heartsore for Maria, Sef, and Malik. Even for Abbas and Ahmad. He had thought to see them here, if there was an afterlife at all. But to see this...

Well. Worse had happened. He would survive.
