He doesn't shy away from her sobbing, and he doesn't try to tell her what most people probably would in a situation like this - It's OK. They both know it's not OK, any of it - what Gotham is, what Batman did, what happened to her at Black Mask's hands. It's not OK, and there's nothing Jason can do to make it OK. Some battles leave scars that never fully heal.

There's so much Jason doesn't know about her, but he still feels closer with Steph than anyone else he can remember. Their similarities weigh heavily on his heart, but it's a weight he is content to accept. One hand gently presses against the back of her head, and the other slides across the back of her shoulders to reassure her that he's not going anywhere.

"I've got you, Steph."
