Sharing something means a lot to Jason, even if it's terrible - maybe because it's terrible. It's one thing to find yourself on a strange island with someone from the same home city, but it's something else entirely to find that person was also killed and resurrected. Those odds are astronomical, and Jason doesn't really care about the math - the fact that the connection exists is significant enough for him.
He's awake when she knocks - had been dozing earlier on the uncomfortable antique couch in the living room, but woke up entirely because he'd heard a noise, or thought he heard a noise. Maybe what he heard was only her footsteps; whatever the case, he's wide awake by the time she arrives. There are only so many likely candidates for knocking on his door at this time of night, but a little voice in the back of his head whispers what if loud enough that he grabs the broken-off chair leg he's turned into a makeshift bludgeon and set near the door as he unlocks and cracks the door to see who's on the other side. Of course it's Steph.
"Hey." He nods a greeting and sets the chair leg back against the wall, then swings the door open wide and waves Steph inside. "Come on in."
