The world shakes around them, plaster and splinters falling, things falling off of walls and vibrating off of tables, and distantly for a second he's thinking bombs, that they're experiencing the outskirts of a blast, an explosion. He grips one of Steve's forearms with his flesh one, and throws his metal arm over the back of Steve's neck to protect his head, leaving them in an awkward haphazard embrace.
It lasts too long for an explosion, though- it keeps going, these things never last that long, and once his PTSD-addled brain catches up, dimly he thinks the word earthquake.
Eventually, it stops. Tentatively he lowers his arm, peering out from under Steve's shoulders, face screwed up in disbelief. ]
