"I miss DeForest Kelley," Karen allows, her voice softening with nostalgia before Kira speaks again, directing, and she suddenly becomes aware of how utterly dark it is now. Her fingers reach out tentatively, nearly blind in the inky darkness, and light upon the rough face of the cave wall. She can hear the soft pinging of droplets falling, make out the blurry edges of what might be the shape of the cave around them, but it only makes the disorientation worse. She thinks of Matt and closes her eyes, but then nearly stumbles on a stone, catching herself just before she crashes into Kira.
They really should have brought a light.
