Jude's mildness and care don't erase his worries like sometimes happens, but they lessen. It's not fair to hold back on Jude, not fair to refuse that vulnerability. He doesn't have to be confident. Kriff, he'd still rather not, but he recognizes in that the reluctance to upset a status quo he can live with, not a real positive desire. It's a risk. He hates risks. Some things are worth those.
