Bodhi spends a lot of time wondering at Jude's willingness to engage in all the patience and care this requires. There's a lot to wonder at. His feelings on the subject usually settle on a sort of abject gratitude that stops him from having to think much more on the subject, but the look he's getting now turns his thoughts from the habitual how does he put up with me that rings in the background of all his thoughts to what does he see in me. Something must make it worth all this, and he's never thought that far before. Has anyone ever looked at him like that? He's felt that people cared about him before, but never so openly admired. Maybe it's the artist's eyes turned on him.
It brings back some of his usual bashfulness, but he's brave enough tonight not to look away from the intensity of Jude's attention. He leans in instead, dropping down in front of the fire, too, and continuing to play with Jude's hair. He's becoming very adept at this maneuver, overcompensate for his own cowardice by leaning in and not away. "You'd keep me warm, yeah." There's a bit of a tremor in his voice, but he's still in this.
