It's cold but it's not so cold that he'll die in a few moments of exposure so he has the luxury of being flippant as he follows the man through the woods toward the settlements. It looks like a colony, of sorts, and one of the colonies that deliberately tries to keep to the old ways of doing things. Ren's heard of these but he's never lived in one aside from his Jedi training and he finds them to be antiquated and useless relics of a lost era.
