If there's one thing I can say about this place for sure, it's that presuming you can predict anything completely is a bad idea. For someone like Kira, who's had to deal with the weirdness of being here a second time, and all the expectations that go with it... I can't have expected things to go any more smoothly than they did. I guess I can at least say I got some exercise.

"Hey, thanks for telling me," I reply. "If you hadn't, I don't think anybody would have blamed you. We're kinda playing this game without knowing the rules. But I'm glad you at least got something out of it."

Not least because if he hadn't, there would have been no way to know if we'd done something to cause it, or if the letter had just been a lie.
