"I would rather just take it on head on," Jon said. "I can't fight a battle against the earth itself. I can't fight a war when there's no men, there's no siege, there's nothing I can get my hands on. This is madness."

It was nice to be able to admit that frustration to someone, even if it was someone he did not know all that well. He wanted to be able to fight it and beat it; how could he when it was the earth itself which had risen against them?
