Hawke's humor has a use, a purpose she rarely mentions. It's a terrible coping mechanism, but it's all she has now. Her diplomacy failed her after the Deep Roads and she fell straight into a life of humor. Wit and sarcasm and a complete distaste for dealing with whatever shit thing life happens to throw at her next.
If her quips help someone else, she isn't about to complain.
She takes note of Wanda's instructions, finding the correct space for the dish she has before moving on to the next one. At least she's good about learning things. Wanda doesn't have to tell her more than twice where something goes.
