Hey, Clary says, like she hasn't just climbed her way out of a fountain, like she's not sitting in the dirt of some mysterious village, like Isabelle hasn't been stuck here with no way out for four months, like Clary hasn't seen her in four months. It's casual, it's easy, and Isabelle is left standing with wide, disbelieving eyes, stunned into silence for what's likely to be the first time ever.
Just as it begins to dawn on Clary that this isn't quite right, Isabelle gets her senses about her. The other girl looks around in confusion, and Isabelle drops down to her knees to throw her arms around Clary's neck in a tight hug.
Finally, she's not alone anymore. Finally someone has figured out where she is and has come to get her out. With two of them here, surely they can figure out how to get back home.
