Deception wasn't exactly one of Nerys' top skills at the best of times, though she certainly could use it. She preferred to keep all cards on the table whenever possible, though; it kept things honest. Having lived for two and a half decades under the thumb of a people whose very social paradigm was built on mind games and subterfuge, she was sick to death of lies.

This could very well not be your world either, she thought, but figured now wasn't the best time to point that out, nor the fact that she wasn't human either.
